Arctic Ocean Expedition, 2007

In March 2007, adventure driver Scott Brady and his team of navigator and co-driver Chris Marzonie and Overland Video Director, Pasquale Benedetto traveled 9,000 miles from Arizona to the frozen Arctic Ocean. The video documents the expedition from the pre-trip preparations all the way to their furthest point north, the village of Tuktoyaktuk on the edge of the frozen Beaufort Sea. Highlights include 4-wheeling with American Expedition Vehicles, ice climbing, dog-sledding, getting to know the locals, and the first video-documented winter navigation of the Peel River from Aklavik to Fort MacPherson in a 4WD (120 miles of adventure driving on a frozen river). Vital fuel and food drops were buried months in advance and, with Jon Escombe and Andy Bell who'd come on my previous desert biking tours, the three Desert Riders set off on a radical 6000-kilometre adventure to the desolate heart of the Sahara.
Not for the first time we soon found ourselves up against it; on one day we covered just 4km. But a few days later, out on the plains along the Niger borderlands we located the primary fuel cache buried in the dunes and by traversing the covert trails of les contrabandiers, we made an illicit excursion to Niger's Ténéré Desert's and the famous Lost Tree.
